Tame Blemishes With These 5 Tips

boy with bad acne

When I had acne I was embarrassed to show my face. The worst was when other people talked about my skin in front of me, which often mortified me into trying to solve my skin problem in other ways, like overusing blemish creams and drying out my skin. If I had had this list, however, and followed it to a tee, I would have been much better off. That said, here’s how you can benefit from what I never knew!

1. Do not pop your zits

It may be tempting to press your skin to relieve the pressure building on your face, but it’s absolutely a bad idea. Maybe if a whitehead shows up, maybe, you can release the buildup of pus after a hot shower, and wash the spot after so it doesn’t get infected and grow bigger. Whatever you do, do NOT go crazy and start picking your face—that only makes acne worse. Self-restraint is absolutely crucial here. We know you can do it! :)

2. Wash your face

Religiously. Every morning, at nighttime before bed and after you exercise and you break a sweat. There are no excuses.

3. Find the right product for you

Look, we love Evologie and we are sure that it will help you get clear skin. But if you use it every morning and evening for six weeks and you still don’t see the relief you need, it may be time to visit a dermatologist to help you find a blemish cream that’s better for your specific skin type.

4. Start with prevention

When you spot treat you may reduce a blemish’s lifespan by a day or two, but ideally you want clear skin all the time. You may get into the habit of cleaning or treating just a part of your face, or doing so only when you see a blemish, but it’s important to build a cleansing routine into your daily habits.

5. Don’t over treat

If you notice peeling or dryness on your face from washing or treating at least twice a day, it’s time to slow down. Always read the recommended usage instructions and don’t be afraid to use an oil-free moisturizer after you wash to keep your face safe.
